Rusting Metals
If you use metals in your product or production line, you may experience corrosion of the base metal. This is caused by moisture and the iron in the metal. It is very common reaction, and can be the death of a production line. As the metal deteriorates, the metal gets smaller and more brittle. As pressures are applied to this area, the possibility of a break or rupture are highly increased.
Solutions
The easiest solution is to not use metal. Other solutions include coating of the metal parts prior to installation on your equipment.
This coating process is an expensive way to go, and most coating eventually wear out and degrade. If the metal were to have some moisture seep in under the coating, it can rust away underneath the coating, and have the same problems.
The best choice is the use a different material. Most plastic products do not degrade and are not affected by any corrosion. The most popular plastic for replacing metals, is
Natural UHMW Sheet or Rod, and it is a very high wear resistant material. This product can replace most wear parts and many bearing grade metals. The UHMW can wear up to 4 times longer and cost less to start.
Easy Installation
Using a plastic product to replace a metal product will make installation dramatically simpler. Plastics are much easier to cut, machine, drill, tap, shape and install. In addition, the finally product will assist in the reduction of noise - this makes OSHA happier as well.
Consider using a plastic sheet, plastic plate, plastic bar or plastic rod for your next project where you have used metal in the past.
